SOCIAL SERVICE

  Adventist Community Services is a certified 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency serving the Greater Chartiers Valley. The programs provided under the umbrella of social services are designed to strengthen and empower families and individuals while addressing community needs and concerns. In addition, endeavors are made to collaborate with other services providers so as to expand and enhance the services and/or opportunities available to those served. 


                                   The following are programs that ACS-GP will soon be 
                                          running from its main office in Carnegie:

English as a Second Language

 The ACSGP ESL program, in collaboration with the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy council, seeks to provide quality instruction in English as a second language to individuals residing in the Chartiers Valley. More specifically, the ACSGP ESL program seeks to accomplish the following goals: 

    • Meet the language needs of innovative individuals with quality teaching in an atmosphere of service, personal attention, respect, and mutual cooperation.
    • Provide a secure environment for individuals of all culture to experience an international view of English.
    • Be a model of unity and an environment where community members can develop a global understanding and awareness.

Referral Program

   The referral program connects families and individuals with local agencies that can meet their physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Referral services are provided  following intake with a qualified case manager.


              

Job Opportunities

  The purpose of this program is to link individuals with available jobs in the Chartiers Valley.

Healthy Living Classes for Children Ages 10 to 13

   In collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club of Carnegie, ACS will offer healthy lifestyle classes for children between the ages of ten and thirteen. These classes will first be open to children already enrolled in the boys and girls club. Later they will be made available at the ACS offices.

First Aid, Adult and Child CPR and AED

 


    First Aid, Adult and Child CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator), 
and Infant CPR. Learn  to respond to respiratory  and/or cardiac emergencies 
and   train   in    the   use   of   an  AED on a victim  of sudden cardiac arrest. 
Participants receive a one-year  certification in  Adult and  Child CPR & AED, 
a one-year certification in Infant CPR and a three-year certification in First Aid.
